In Barcelona community arts is gradually gaining in popularity and recognition, both for politicians and for artists and cultural festivals. However, the theoretical and methodological knowledge of this complex practice is still very limited here. When can a community arts project be considered successful? Which criteria should be used to determine this? What are the pitfalls? Which ethical concerns exist? Which new forms of aesthetics could possibly emerge from more collective ways of creating work, and how? The Summer School contributes to answering these questions by inviting an international group of artists to explore methods and to have meaningful conversations.

The Summer School takes place in Sala Beckett, C/Pere IV 228, 08005 Barcelona, Spain.
